About the Mint

For over 50 years, we have had the extraordinary privilege of presenting Australian nature, culture and history on the coins you use every day.

Everyone has a coin story to share. Whether it was the first gift from the tooth fairy, the sixpence in the Christmas pudding, the vital ‘heads or tails’ decision, or the time spent collecting and admiring special pieces.

As the sole producer of Australia’s circulating coins, we have our own unique perspective on this story which we share with thousands of visitors each year.

Visit the Royal Australian Mint for a great experience the whole family can enjoy. Take a free guided tour where you will get to peek into our coin factory where all of the coins you come across everyday are made. See Australia’s national coin collection to find out which is the most expensive coin ever made. Meet Titan, the Mint’s strongest robot, before pressing your very own coin. Stop by the shop for an enduring memento of your visit and finally, have a well-deserved coffee and a light lunch or quick snack.

Open daily. Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm. Weekends and public holidays 10.00am – 4.00pm. Free entry and free parking.
